Silicone Cooking Gloves

I cook a lot at home, for many reasons (to save money, it’s healthier, it tastes better).  So you’d think I wouldn’t be such a wimp around heat.  I hate getting hot casseroles out of the oven!!  I also have arthritis, so it’s difficult sometimes when dealing with heavy items (hello, cast iron skillet!).  I need a good grip on dishware, and these silicone cooking gloves do the trick.

Silicone Cooking Gloves in Action

For years, I used square pot holders, but I have trouble getting a good grip with them.  Oven mitts are big and sometimes get in the way.  And I’m sure we’ve all experienced the nastiness that comes from using potholders and oven mitts that are cloth.  It’s no wonder that silicone cooking gloves are so popular now.  But I need to tell you – they are NOT all the same!

These silicone cooking gloves made by AYL are the best I’ve ever used!  They have cotton on the inside that is soooo soft.  Have you ever tried using the kind that is silicone inside?  It turns into a big sweaty, slick mess with me.  These stay cool and are unbelievably comfortable to wear.  My husband and I can both wear this comfortably.

Silicone Cooking Gloves

The silicone on the outside is textured (hearts) and heat grade.  My hands have never felt the heat from my cast iron skillet handle, hot casserole dishes from the oven, or the grill outside.  I do a lot of canning, and these silicone cooking gloves work well with that.  And the texture makes it easier to open tight lids as well.  Each glove has a hook for hanging.

These gloves are unbelievably easy to clean.  If you’re lucky enough to own a dishwasher (I don’t), you can throw them in.  I wash mine off in the sink with the dishes.
